Our Roots

WANDER SANDPOINT was born in 2026 and is a family-owned and operated travel lodge that pays homage to its ski-bum, hippie-vibe roots. Originally constructed in 1963, the building that houses the WAYPOINT LOUNGE once served as a finish shop for the iconic K2 ski brand before being converted to innkeepers quarters when the aptly named K2 Motel first opened its doors. The landmark motel operated as a downtown staple for many years, providing accommodations for wanderers from near and far. The Inn has changed hands a few times over the years, most recently when it was purchased by Inland Northwest natives, Jeff and Tracy Penna.
